Sipsmith colours Spring in yellow
Lemon Drizzle Gin is the perfect drink for a sunny afternoon.
Gin is a drink that has been mixed in millions of bars around the world for over a century. It is a classic ingredient of cocktails, as well as a favourite on its own for many drink connoisseurs.
The history of gin dates back to the beginning of the 19th Century. In those times, tonic water was used to treat malaria. British doctors decided to add lemon, sugar and gin to improve the bitter taste and make it into a more agreeable flavour for the palate. This idea worked out really well, and today we are still loving the result!
The famous London distillery Sipsmith is also part of the history of gin with lemon. They have created Lemon Drizzle Gin. A dry, light, and brilliantly refreshing beverage with a citric twist. What is their secret? Sun-dried lemon peels, lemon verbena, and vapour infused fresh hand peeled lemon.
Today’s gin drinkers are more demanding and are keen to try different mixes beyond the old classics. Sam Galsworthy is Sipsmith’s co-founder, and he believes that people are now consuming gin in different ways, both in bars and at home.“They are more experimental and adventurous in their cocktail and gin choices. We want to reach the gin enthusiasts who are open to trying something new, but that still maintains historical roots and is classic in style-people who are excited by varied ranges of gin that aren't available everywhere or all the time.”
