The Giorgio Armani fashion house has a long and rich fragrance history that rivals even some established perfume houses. Mr Armani launched his first foray into fragrance in 1981 with Giorgio by Giorgio Beverly Hills. In 1982 he followed up with Armani, a now-discontinued perfume for women.

Scroll forward to the 1990’s and Mr Armani introduced us to Acqua Di Giò and Acqua di Giò Homme, which was apparently inspired by the isle of Pantelleria in Italy where he frequently vacationed.  The now-classic soft-edged bottle shape was designed in homage to the unstructured tailoring of the jackets in Mr Armani’s fashion collections.

Now, two decades on, the iconic scent has re-surfaced as Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò Absolu.

Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò Absolu is a warm and sensual, bold new fragrance for men, inspired by where the sea meets wood. Created by master perfumer, Alberto Morillas, it is a sophisticated combination of woody notes softened by a fresh aquatic signature. It celebrates the relationship between man and nature and takes you on a journey to the sea and beyond.

This masculine fragrance creates a perfect balance between water and woody aromas. It opens with an aquatic marine note, and a touch of grapefruit. A patchouli scent then unfolds, complemented by warm and amber woods, like a hot towel after an early morning swim. The result is an understated, timeless elegance that comes straight from the soul of Giorgio Armani himself.

The Absolu bottle has the same iconic shape of Acqua di Giò, but the clear transparent glass reveals the amber-coloured juice within. The sustainably sourced cap, made of ash wood, feels good and looks good too contrasted with the shiny metallic collar. It’s another example of wood meets sea, of bold meets sophisticated, of everything a man wants to be.
